Job Description: Azure Public Cloud & Azure Stack HCI Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Azure Public Cloud & Azure Stack HCI Engineer to design, deploy, and manage hybrid cloud infrastructure solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with multiple versions of Azure Stack HCI and Azure Local, strong expertise in Storage Spaces Direct (S2D), and a proven ability to maintain high availability and scalability in enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Azure Stack HCI Experience

  • Work with various versions of Azure Stack HCI (23H2, 24H2/Azure Local).

  • Manage deployments, upgrades, and daily operations in hybrid cloud environments.

• Version Comparison

  • Evaluate and explain differences between Azure Stack HCI 23H2 and 24H2 in architecture, deployment, and management.

  • Provide recommendations for migration and adoption strategies.

• Storage Spaces Direct (S2D)

  • Configure and manage S2D within Azure Stack HCI clusters.

  • Optimize storage pools and ensure high performance and resiliency.

• Deployment Prerequisites

  • Define hardware, network, and software requirements for successful deployment.

  • Collaborate with vendors to validate compatibility and performance.

• S2D Configuration

  • Implement step-by-step configuration of S2D clusters.

  • Ensure proper fault tolerance and redundancy.

• Volume Management

  • Create, expand, and manage volumes from S2D storage pools.

  • Monitor performance and capacity utilization.

• Patching Strategy

  • Develop patching approaches to minimize downtime.

  • Utilize Cluster-Aware Updating (CAU) for seamless updates.

• Cluster Scalability

  • Scale clusters up to supported node limits.

  • Assess workload demands and optimize resource allocation.

• Control Plane VM

  • Manage Control Plane VM in Azure Stack HCI 23H2.

  • Ensure proper orchestration of cluster services.

• Core Services

  • Maintain critical services such as Hyper-V, SDN, S2D, and Azure Arc integration.

  • Ensure seamless connectivity with Azure Public Cloud.

• Monitoring & Health Checks

  • Use Azure Monitor, Windows Admin Center, and third-party tools for proactive monitoring.

  • Perform regular health checks and capacity planning.

• Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose and resolve node-level and cluster-level issues.

  • Collect and analyze logs for root cause identification.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong experience with Azure Stack HCI (23H2, 24H2/Azure Local).

• Expertise in Storage Spaces Direct (S2D) configuration and management.

• Knowledge of Cluster-Aware Updating (CAU) and patching strategies.

• Familiarity with Azure Arc, Windows Admin Center, and Azure Monitor.

• Hands-on experience with networking, virtualization (Hyper-V), and hybrid cloud integration.

• Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues using logs and diagnostic tools.

• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Experience

• Prior work in enterprise-scale hybrid cloud deployments.

• Experience with cluster scalability planning and performance optimization.

• Familiarity with control plane VM orchestration in Azure Stack HCI 23H2.

• Strong background in patching challenges resolution and automation.
